Various measuring system elements
A measuring system is made of five basic elements.
These are:
1. Standard
2. Work piece
3. Instrument
4. Person
5. Environment
The most basic element
of measurement is a standard without which no measurement is possible. Once the
standard is chosen a measuring instrument incorporations this standard is
should be obtained. This instrument is then used to measure the job parameters,
in terms of units of standard contained in it. The measurement should be
performed under standard environment. And, lastly, there must be some person or
mechanism (if automatic) to carry out the measurement.
